FAQ

If you have questions, you're in the right place.

What is Endless Epitaph?
Epitaph is a pan fandom (crossover) role play with a horror and supernatural theme. It's taken a majority of horror themed fandoms and put them in all in the same coexisting world.

Who can play?
Virtually anyone can play as long as they're mature and the legal age in their area. Character wise we're pretty acceptable, though we do have a list of fandoms we don't allow. It's located in our rules section.

There's an age limit? Why?
It's horror based. Some of us grew up in an era where horror was typically R rated. That meant 18 and over. If you're under the age restriction in your area, you probably shouldn't be here.

Can I play a villain?
Of course.

How about original characters?
Original Characters are only available to play if you have an active fandom character.

What about continuity? When are some of these fandoms based?
Several fandoms have a "set" continuity. Here are some examples:
Fright Night: Characters and events have been adjusted to fit the current date. Instead of happening in the 1980s, the events were in the late 1990s-early 2000s. Both movies have already occurred and it's been six years after part 2.
The Three Mothers Trilogy: The events in the movies have not occurred yet.
Friday the 13th: The Series: Set between Season 2 & Season Three. So anything before the two part "The Prophecies" episodes is canon. Anything after hasn't happened.
The Buffyverse: Post Season 7 for BtVS. During Season 5 of Angel, but before the episode "You're Welcome".
Supernatural: Mid season 4, after the episode "Family Remains". (S4.E11)
Smallville: Mid Season 8, after "Legion" but before "Bulletproof", with some mild changes that are character based.
The Puppet Master series: Some time after part 5 (16 years, give or take), the Bodega Bay Inn is empty once again. It's unknown what happened to Rick Myers, but the puppets are once again calling the inn home.
Blade series: Set after the events in Blade Trinity.

Other fandoms will be based around where the first player of the fandom has started from. An example would be someone playing Edgar Frog from "The Lost Boys". If they were the first player in that fandom and chose to play Edgar as a teenager then anyone wanting to play Alan Frog would have to be from the same timeline and continuity.

What if I don't want to play from that continuity/timelime?
Then you'll need to find a different character/fandom or another rp. We'd like it if you chose another character or fandom actually. Especially older fandoms. We love variety and obscurity.

What is the timeline anyway?
Currently it is Early February 2009 in game.

Can we do anything we want?
No. The things you do must stay within the boundaries of your character. Dean Winchester isn't going to be leaping from rooftop to rooftop like Buffy Summers might.

So if all these fandoms are in the same universe, how do you explain contradicting facts?
We come up with ways. For example, different types of vampires are just different bloodlines. Werewolves are different breeds.

And demons?
Different demons, different classifications, and heck maybe some misinformation among the populace.

What about Dracula? Some of these fandoms each have one.
Dracula is explained in the following way: He's a legend. Many people claim to be him but not a single one can really prove they are the one true Dracula. So they use each other as decoys. If one dies then another one just has more of a shot at the fame and power the name brings.

What kind of plots are there in Epitaph?
All kinds. You can make your own and we can throw one out for everyone to participate in. The point is to interact and play with characters and fandoms one might not be able to by other means. So if you're a dancer named Suzy Banyon and are in need of help to stop the wicked Mater Suspiriorum, it's okay to seek help from Peter Vincent, Fearless Vampire Killer or someone completely different. We love separate plot lines, but we also love situations that cause everyone to play together.

What's the deal with "Fright Night"?
Fright Night is used as a way for Peter Vincent to get messages through to hunters and heroes of the world while still making an honest living as an actor. The man still has a tendency to get into trouble, but as he says, "Forewarned is forearmed." Whether or not anyone actually realizes what he's doing is another issue all together. His information is usually surrounded by dramatic monologues and anecdotes from his career.

So we can ignore his information?
If you want.

So, can characters die?
Yes.. but major character deaths is something that must be approved by us. Bring it up and we'll discuss.

Have a question? Ask. We like them. We'll answer. We'll put it here. Everyone wins!
